Time Series Analysis in the Age of Large Foundation Models

Abstract:

Time series analysis has long been central to understanding dynamic processes in medicine, finance, and science. With the advent of large foundation models—including large language models (LLMs) and large vision models (LVMs)—new opportunities emerge to integrate temporal signals with rich contextual, semantic, and multimodal knowledge. This seminar explores how foundation models reshape time series modeling, highlighting advances in representation learning, cross-modal alignment, and interpretability, while also addressing challenges in scalability, data efficiency, and domain adaptation.
